Like keith said, if you diy most of it you probably come out with some extra cash. My e30 took that small tree a year ago and after I bought the car back from them I got 1500$, and I used my spare windshield and a little metal bending to come out +1500$. What insurance company you with? You should be glad that these cars have those shields under there or you might not have even made it home. What's so hard with the bumper other than the paint?

If I can install the same bumper for 10 hours, I'm sure you can have it done in a half hourSucks Dane, You'll be happy you made the claim, and they should give you a rental if you decide to let a shop do it. I hope you have time to get it taken care of before you take off for a month.

That's mighty crappy. But, think of the damage if you handn't had the underbody plate. Your motor may have been toast. You will have this all sorted out and fixed before you know it.
