I am always amused by people (not meaning you, 3ZHPGUY) generally thinking that the "German Autobahn" has no speed limits. Most Americans I know believe this. A little research will show that only certain highways, in certain sections have no speed limits.
Also a lot of people think that the "German Autobahn" is one specific highway/road named such :D "autobahn" simply and generally means the whole Highway or Interstate network (US Equiv.)

99% of the drivers are really good and they actually pay attention to what they're doing and how their actions affect others. For the most part, it really is quite amazing how well traffic flows (besides of course in the heavily congested areas). I felt safer cruising at 130+ mph over there than I do at 75 mph here.
