Got headers and hate the rasp?

I've had a custom 3" magnaflow system and gotten many questions about it over on E46f. I figured I'd start this thread here so I can post pictures and videos of the system(s, I've made a few) as well as answer questions as best I can.

    Here's the videos:

And one with a converter in the system... excuse the wheels.

As far as the materials are concerned, you'll need the following:
    3" U bend
    2 x 2 1/4" U bends
    8' stick of 3" pipe
5x8x14" 3" Center-Center Muffler OR 3" catalytic converter (as shown)
    5x8x18" 3" Offset-Center Muffler
    Tips of your choice
    2 OEM exhaust flanges
    2 OEM exhaust gaskets

Thanks for the info. This might be good for a DIY or in the Project thread.

I plan to do a DIY writeup the next time I build a system, taking pictures along the way. I'll eventually redo this one once my engine swap is completed.

You know...the run of the mill, everyday S54 Engine swap...Please do us a favor and put headers, no cats and a single resonator and muffler...also Velocity Stacks...then drive up to the meet next year...so we can all take turns riding in it...Just a lil favor, NBD, right?

    The car sounds great, Len!

I think it sounds good, but i don't mind some rasp. Does that 3 in change performance at all or just sound?

I went to a single 3" simply because of ease of installation, muffler choice, and the single pipe helps tone down the rasp. The cross section of the single 3" is marginally larger than the stock daul ~2" pipes. (7.06 sq/in vs 6.28 sq/in)
