Sounds like you're firm at $22K. If that's your price, that's your price. Hold firm. You may end up with principles and no car but at least you'll still have your principles. I can live with that.

Damn. I thought I read on here that trim could be had for around $500. Maybe a silver carbon fiber wrap will be a better option. I'm just not digging the all black. Too monotone. I wonder what the interest on the forum would be in trading silver for my black cube. I have the standard, plasticky aluminum trim in my 2001 330ci and could have it wrapped and hold onto the black cube for resale.
Dane, you found some silver cube trim on eBay, though, that was about $500, no?

From a few posts ago, I got to drive the white coupe that is being offered by a local dealer. Again, it's a 2006, 6mt with 62k miles. Dealer is asking $22,600.
It's in nice condition - not perfect, but very nice (there's a couple scrapes at the bottom of the front bumper lip, the tint on one of the windows should be replaced, but it has a clear bra, so no chips on the front, no dings or dents to speak of; interior is in nice condition other than some normal wear on the driver's seat bolster and on the shift knob).
It drove well too - nothing interesting noted (in a good way).
I got the history on it from a BMW salesperson I know, and found that it had been CPO'd, so it has that CPO warranty through Feb 2012. Not a ton of time, but at least there's some coverage for the first several months if I were to buy it.
It's new on their lot, so it doesn't seem they are budging much from their pricing at this point - claim to have $21k into it. I made it clear I was very interested, but that I thought the price was a bit high. We'll see if I hear from them.
Thanks for all the helpful advice!
I'm planning to look at this car on saturday and taking it for a test drive..
