    for the aFe intake, is there a way to route cold air into the filter area? It seems like with it being open it would take in a lot of the hot engine-bay air.

    I ended up swapping out my aFe intake (and selling it) so that I could get the BMW Performance intake. I did it for no other reason than it looks better than the aFe intake.

    As soon as you start moving, that's a non factor. AFE or one of their dealers (can't remember) did a series of tests with engine compartment heat and intake temps. They found that if the car was sitting still, there was an increase in intake temps but as soon as you began moving, it didn't matter.

    Check out the AFE intakes for the 135i & 335i; this is why they did the tests.
