That auto transmission T-stat was toast/ greased tensioner/ rollers also. Pics

I got to changing that T- stat for the automatic transmission cooler and it looked like this when i lifted the tank up.

The spring completely blew the top part off. It then just fell apart from there.

    The new one installed.

I also decided to re pack the 2 tensioners and one roller with grease. I took of the dust caps, and used a pic to remove the bearings seals. Cleaned out the dried crap with a Q tip and then repacked with a clean Q tip.

Only took two pics of the dried crap before I re packed them.

Changed the lower ac belt too and then put it all back together.

Does the coolant have to be drained to replace the t-stat?

I had posted another thread in the general zhp with pics of that t-stat and part number. You have to remove the expansion tank to change it. This is for autos only though, standard cars don't have this.
