BMW performance SSK install gone bad

I received BMW performance SSK kit a couple of days ago and I started installing it after dinner. Things went fine and I even managed to do most of it from the top. Everything is in place except that final clip. Either from the top or from the bottom, space is really tight and I cannot clip it. So I decided to take out exhaust as many recommend but the very front four bolts that connects to the header are stuck. I struggled about two hours and finally gave up. I just sprayed some penetrating oils.

If anyone has done it, what is the trick? Maybe one can hold the clip from the bottom while another pushes in place. Also, I wonder if someone in San Diego can help me finish this. Thanks.

I finally finished installing it last night. I've got a snap ring plier but it was too big to fit in the small hole. So, I used my long hex key as a extension tip and placed the clip from the top.
Throw is definitely shorter and it feels right. I put the knob that came with it. It's nicely weighted but it feels a little too small to me. I'm thinking of going back to zhp knob.

No worries. I also got busy and finally tackled yesterday. For the time being, my zhp had to seat in the garage. I missed a lot.

True. With right tool and patient, it can be done from the top. I actually wrapped a thread on the clip so that I don't have to go down and hunt every time I drop it. Haha....

I have the OEM Performance SSK. Love it as it is not as aggressive as the Rogue SSK that i tested out before. Yes, the knob is a little on the small side but after a while I got used to it. I've had the SSK on for close to 2 years now and no problems at all.

I never thought of the thread trick. That will come in handy in many situations. Thats why we lurck on random topics!

Installed mine about a month ago and failed on the first attempt (100 degrees outside and no breeze in the garage plus car was on jack stands). Second time was a charm. Used a buddy's shop with a lift. I used a really long magnet parts grabber thingy. Hardest part was keeping it from grabbing every piece of metal under the car as it had the capability of raising close to 40lbs.

Love the BMW Performance SSK now.
