It sounds like there will be a limited time span to have the repair free of charge.
"BMW expects to begin and complete owner notification in October 2011.
Expenses for repairs performed prior to December 18, 2009 or more than 10 days after the date of last owner notification letter sent by BMW are not eligible for reimbursment."

There's alot of people on the other boards asking about it in coupes, pre face sedans but its for the face lifted sedans only.
I called BMW customer relations and that lady said the letters will be sent out october and that its not certain every car will get a notice.
