FYI: The sedan was only available from '03-'05, so an '06 will be an e90 and not a ZHP.

Welcome and good luck with your search. When I got mine I had to read between the lines to see if the car was a zhp or a zsp, just get familiar with the little things that are different and you should be able to tell whats what.

Welcome. As far as model years, no issues with that wrt ZHPs like you may see in other cars. There is no "avoid the '04s because of 'X' thing going on". I think the only real model year thing was the major recall on the subframe from earlier E46 models (not even sure if ZHPs were included, I'd have to look that up to see if they were around then), but even that's not a model year reliability issue.
