Bavauto has some insight into this and also mentions an alternate source of oil leakage in that area.
I haven't had to deal with that but for future reference, I have a DIY bookmarked with a note to see post #16.

Definitely do this yourself if you can. It doesn't look very difficult at all and you can save yourself some dough.
