I have the film on my fogs from a previous owner. I quite like the light output. For protection, it's kind of useless because the very edges of the lenses are extremely pitted due to the film not reaching those edges.

I used the yellow laminate from lamin-x, along with yellow bulbs after I found that the yellow was a little pale for my tastes. I agree that it would have been nice if the film was a little larger so that there wouldn't be any lense seen around the perimeter, but after having them for right at a year now I can say that its nothing that bothered me with any lasting effect. I don't even notice it when I wash my car anymore. I would definitely recommend this set up if you're into yellow fogs.
