As it usually happens....when I get ready to do a project the other car intervenes Painting of my CSL bootlid has to wait so I can address a very recent new maintenance issue with my ///M. Usually works out that way. Earlier this year my ZHP altered my plans to mod my M3 when I had to replace power steering hoses....as they say....s*** happens
So today I took apart my passenger's side headlight and fixed an issue I caused with them 6 months ago... all I have to do is wait till it gets dark to confirm my fix and aim my headlights.
While I was there I cleaned the area up a bit
I bent over that small metal piece on the shutter which allowed additional light to come out thru the projector....
You can see the cutout here looking at the inside part of the shutter. Why would they make a cutout here??? Can anyone explain that??
Anyway I bent that small metal part so it would cover that cutout again and hopefully this will be the end of that minor headache...
Well, at least I got to really clean my headlight assembly today...after I was finished with my headlight, I swapped steering wheels and installed my perforated leather steering wheel I acquired from Bruce.
Took out my alcantara steering wheel so I can get it properly cleaned....
That's one car somewhat finished.... now to address that maintenance issue with my ///M in the morning...

finished aiming my passenger's side headlights then took the car out on a road test. No more annoying extra light emanating from the headlight like it did the first time I rebuilt it so problem corrected.
I thought that cutout was for city lights.

I agree with Dane. .. I believe I could have just put a +1 though. High and low in one xenon lamp,
Here is a picture of an E46 with city lights on.... they are dimly lit where the inner High beam lights are.
