oem e46 m3 strut bar different through the years?

    Hey guys,

I recently acquired an OEM e46 m3 strut bar from a 2003 MY car and while observing the strut mount pieces(left and right) , I noticed that mines looked different from the part number listed online (51717895249, and 51717895250).

this is the one shown online and the one I have has these little butt pieces (dime sized)

and what I am wondering is why the pieces are different. Perhaps a redesign?
