    i use 0w-40 burn about a quart and half between oil changes (7500 miles).

    I'm running Pento High 5w-40 and I'm losing oil. Lost about 1/2 a quart in 3k miles.

    Here are the specs. LL-04 i think? I don't know what the specs mean though as far as LL-01 goes.

    Yeah, you should get some Mobil 1 0W-40 or Castrol Euro 5W-30. You need to run LL-01 in your e46. You should change your oil over break to any oil that meets that Specification.

    I think the additive is different. But I'm almost sure that if you change your oil, it won't burn like that.

    Well I had oil burning before I had this oil also. Not sure what kind it was but I know I lost oil before I used this. My mechanic has also been working with BMW's his whole life and said this is what he uses in all of his BMW's and his customer's BMW's and hasn't had any issues with it so I don't think the oil is what the issue is as far as losing oil goes. I could be wrong though.
