How to "refresh" your black cube effect trim doityourself

so I didn't get around to doing it today but I found pictures from the last time I did it.

What you need/stuff I had around when I did it:

    black fat-tip permanent marker (I used a Bic Chisel-Point)

window cleaner (I used Stoner Invisible Glass + Rain Repellent)

a microfiber towel you won't mind getting stained.

some black cube effect trim that needs to be fixed

    What to do:

take off all the cube trim pieces that you want to work on.

you basically color in the whole trim piece with the marker. pretend you're a kid and have a coloring book, just fill it in completely. Make sure your lines are nice and even or it will look like poop when it shines in the sun. When it is dry to the touch it should have a purple shine to it. give it a minute to set then spray it with the glass cleaner, buff down the surface with the microfiber towel until the purple shine is removed but there is still a shine left. In the sunlight you can kinda still see some purple but it looks much better than before. If you haven't completely covered up the scratches/it doesn't quite look good enough just do more layers until it comes out to what you like. If you mess up, just buff it off completely and start over.

    very old:

    more recent/before refresh:

after the last time I did this:

I used some black spray paint that I applied with a Q tip. Worked pretty well. It was some leftover Krylon black hammer finish I used on some out door chairs.

Let me clarify method. Cleaned trim with alcohol let dry. Sprayed paint into clean container creating a pool of paint. Took Q tip used as paint brush and applied.

No smell other than paint which dried quickly

Someone should also do a DIY on "how to glue broken clips back onto black cube trim" for that particular set.
