Detailing, touch up paint and clay bar

So i want to do a major detail this spring. I see a lot of people doing the clay bar. I think i want to do this, and would love some reccomendations. Also on a more pressing note, i have a lot of paint chips in my hood from stones or salt trucks. What have my felllow zhpers or detailing gurus used on these paint chips that really works. I want to fix that before i make my finish look new and slippery wet again. Pls advise!
