I know it's been addressed but it's called the Brenizer Method and it creates a mega depth of field effect buy shooting a group of photos and stitching them together in PS. looks like it messed up a bit on that headlight.

it seriously sounds a lot easier than it actually is.

Correct, and to be honest, it was messed up far worse than that before I made attempted corrections at it. Ultimately, this was a fun shot on the tail end of a fun weekend and Ryan likes it.
