    BMW steering wheel play

I have about an inch or so of play on each side of the wheel. I was pretty sure the main culprit was the Front Control Arm bushings since they've never been replaced (at least that I know of, @58k) but I found this thread (you may have seen it already) which may be solution to those who still have play after new FCAB's.

It looks like a cheap and easy DIY, I will be adding it to the laundry list of things to do in the Spring

I just changed my steering coupler (guibo) last week. I didn't have a whole lot of play to begin with, but it certainly tightened it up a bit.

I've heard of people recommend replacing the "guibo", but never really looked into what it was for. Now I know, its for the steering system.

Is this something that eventually fails and need replacing? And is the process hard to do?

Guibo can be used loosely for another part on our car......the diff flex disk is often also referred to as a diff guibo.....just a heads up.
