Cool, thanks!
I bought a lovely black ///M license plate frame from ECS Tuning, but that's as far as I will go. It is sweet though. AND, I have an ///M baseball cap from BMW lifestyles, and I like that too...but, oh never mind.
Okay man look, I've personally had normal E46 arms and ZHP arms in my possession at the same time, and I currently have M3 arms as my car is a proper M3. I'm familiar with all 3 arms and their differences
E46 and ZHP arms look identical, except the ZHP arms have metal outer ball joints and an ///M sticker on them. Both have the hole for the auto leveling sensor. M3 arms have a pretty different design, have no M sticker, and have no hole for the auto leveling sensor. My understanding is that the M3 arms end up sticking out farther than non-M arms, though I haven't taken measurements to confirm
My guess: You had M3 arms initially, the shop realized they didn't fit, and they were swapped out for ZHP arms.
For reference:

ZHP/Z4M arm
M3 arm
I can't find pics of the old-style control arms, but they look like E36 control arms and Xi control arms
