    Battery replacement doityourself

    All -

Which battery are you using to replace oem? I've read about the 49dl which requires some modification and is not direct drop in. I've also read of a 94r that might be an easier drop in. What's your experience?

I just put an Autozone H7 AGM into my car. Living in the extreme desert climate that is the Sonoran desert, an AGM battery is almost a must. Not cheap - $189 - but has a 36-month full replacement warranty, and AGM batteries do much better in our extreme heat.

    +1.
I popped out the factory battery, dropped it in, wired it up, and it was done. Took about 5-10 minutes

I've got a 94R in mine. Fit great and works fine. Although, my tech at the indy shop I take my car to when I have a problem I can't solve said he would recommend installing a BMW OEM battery. Maybe I will when this duralast conks out, but until then, I'm not too worried.

Awesome thread. Bookmarking. Thanks. The guy who did my PPI suggested I change the battery soon but he wasnt sure how old it was. I might change it out before winter comes. If the BMW battery is around 140 Ill just go that route.
