Saturday, 24 April, marked the 12th year I have had my M3. On this day I was at Shawn's home picking up his Alcantara interior for my ZHP.
Happy car-a-versary!

A new battery has been procured for the M3 this morning.
An Optima Yellow Top Deep Cycle Battery
Group Size H6, 800 CCA, 925 CA, 140 RC
To a tune of $315.64
I was going to order my battery from FCP Euro but they are currently back ordered with no ETA and there was only one store in my area that happened to have a battery that works with my M3 so I got it
Weather supposed to be nice tomorrow so I will take the car out for a nice ride

Since today is a decent day I have a few things to address on my M3… specifically a rusty battery tray
I will knock off as much rust using a wire brush then clean off the tray and use Rustoleum paint to recondition the battery tray to reuse for the time being.
I will be cleaning out the battery well so there are no rusty debris in there…

The battery tray was wire brushed enough to get most of the corrosion off. I then used brake cleaner to wash off the rust residue then wiped the tray off using paper towels.
Applied three coats of primer ensuring everything was covered… then used black Rustoleum paint to finish reconditioning my battery tray
This should be good for now

I'm hoping so
I would recommend periodically checking the battery well and look at the battery tray to see if you have any corrosion going on which will lead to the rust you saw in the above pictures. I have been way too complacent and will be taking out the battery in my ZHP to give that area a good once over to make sure there are no corrosion there.
I can say compared to what I started with this morning when I took off the battery tray, it is a night and day difference now...those fasteners are an eyesore since they are rusty. I will be stopping at the dealer on Monday to order 5 new fasteners to secure the battery tray with.
