    Possible Shifter issue?

Does anyone know if this much left and right play is normal for a car with 168k on it. Regardless, does anyone know how to bring this back to the stock feel? Here is a vid of the problem.

    Thanks!

That's honestly not bad. Do a search on my user name in a shifter thread not that long ago (1-2 days) ...I posted a video of a brand new evo3 for comparison. Don't feel like hunting down the URL on my phone...will post it up when I get home.

Pff that's nothing compared to my old E30. You could put it in first and wiggle it as if it were in neutral. My ZHP has a similar wiggle to yours in neutral and when in gear it moves maybe a half a centimeter in either direction.

Fixing that will require new shift bushings. That will restore to brand new feel.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

I still maintain that's not too bad. Vid above is a brand new (not driven yet) UUC Evo3 with DSSR on my ZHP.

I'd say you're better off comparing your in gear play than neutral play.

For that side to side play you've shown I'd wager you can fix 90% of that with new #10s

add a new #7 and that's about as good as it will get on a stock linkage. all 5 would be <$15.

Thanks guys! Miss how helpful everyone is on here! I've set the site as my homepage so i can get used to being on here every day again. I'm barely on the computer anymore because its broken, and this shitbox tablet sucks the big one as well lol. But I'll deff be replacing those for sure. You guys know if its a pain in the "A" DIY?

The clips are pretty fiddly. i'd buy an extra 1 or 2 of #11 in case you zing one across the garage or into an abyss somewhere. been there done that.

Since you'll have to gain access i'll recommend you do at least all #10s, #7, and #2s. #12 can really help too but that thing is a huuuge pain to get to on the 6spd.

If you're interested in doing a little better i can wholehearted recommend doing a ssk - even with a lever swap or a full on kit like UUC's. I'm not sure what levers work on the ZHP - i know for my e30 the 1.9L Z3 lever was a popular choice. basically just a $40 SSK. you do have to be careful by extending the length of the arm below the pivot because you'll start getting the selector rod into the guibo. UUC circumvents this by raising the pivot point, but this also has a lot to do with the cost of their system.
