Trunk Release Switch no longer works

The trunk release switch that is located on the trunk has quit working. I can still open the trunk from the key fob as well as the trunk release button under the dash. I searched for any common failure points (switch, wiring, etc.) but couldn't really find anything, but perhaps I just missed it.

So is there a common mode of failure for this area, or do I just need to go in and start tracing wires?

If it works from the key fob and the glove box it must either be the switch on the trunk or for some reason it thinks the passenger door is still locked. Not sure how to test the second but I'd try cycling through lock-unlock from the key a few times and see if that clears it up.

oh yeah... forgot about the passenger door thing. Make sure the car is fully unlocked or the button on the trunk doesn't work. I'm just planning on getting my car recoded for single click unlock everything.

He said it worked from the remote and glove box so it sounds like the latch and solenoid are all working properly. I'm guessing part #16

Sorry for the late reply. Yes I am aware that all doors need to be unlocked. I have tracked this down to the actual switch behind the trunk release button. I peeled back a small amount of the wire insulator from the input wire and the output wire and shorted across the switch. This activated the trunk actuator and thus tells me the switch is not functioning.

    Hi all,

I have this same issue. I ordered the switch, and have successfully removed the boot "ledge" that houses the boot switch, but cannot figure out how to physically remove the connector. I don't see an obvious way to detach the switch to install the new actuator.

Any advice would be appreciated. Don't want to break anything.
