    I think MTL and MT-90 are fine for the transmission too, manual anyway.

    Correct on the MTL. Haven't read anything to confirm the MT-90.

    From Mike Miller-- "All the BMW gearbox rebuilders I know use Red Line MTL exclusively, regardless of
    model year or gearbox. The general consensus is MTL is the better lubricant.
    However, Red Line D4ATF will require less shifter babying during cold operation. I use
    Red Line MTL in manual gearboxes except where I can’t trust the driver to shift properly
    when the gearbox is cold, in which case I use Red Line D4 ATF."

    Planning to do the tranny and I can't find Redline MTL (75w80) local, but Car Quest has MT-85 (75w85). Any reservations for use in VA during the summer?
