It's a heater control valve and it stops the flow of coolant to the heater core when not needed. Mine was sticking and blowing hot when the AC was on. It's located on the drivers side inner fender, under the intake tube.

Since we're on the subject of heating:
My air (no AC) blows significantly warmer than outside air sometimes. Is this normal?
I set the central vents to the 3 blue dots. This seems to happen after I drive somewhere, stop and come back in an hour.

Mine does that too. I think its just the air passing through all the ducts and parts that have been heated up while the car has been sitting. I've noticed that in our other vehicles too.
