Had AAA flatbed it to the shop. Leak around the expansion tank, and my tools, jack stands etc are 170 miles away.
The funny part was calling AAA. The very nice call center person asked for all the details on the care: make and model? is it lowered? Is it modified ? Is it a duelly? Does it have a crew cab?

Speaking of AAA, I’ve read and heard enough horror stories of tow trucks hitching and strapping to parts of the car that shouldn’t be hitched or strapped to, so I picked up these during Garagistic’s last sale. $12 peace of mind.

I’m sure that answer depends on who you ask. To me it’s more about giving them a place to tether down that won’t involve them (a) using any suspension components, or (b) ruining my wheels by tethering down through the barrels and spokes.

Although if someone did tow from there (like if I was somehow parked in a towaway zone, injured, or was otherwise not present), it’s a better choice than the lower control arm which is very common.

    Per the vendor:

REAR SHOCK TIE DOWN ADAPTERS FOR YOUR E30-E46!
If you tow your car to the track , you need a good way to hold down your e30, e36 or e46 bmw. The lower control arms under the 3 series are not ideal. You may have nice wheels on your car and in the case of an emergency, the tow guys might run a strap right on the lip of your rim, potentially ruining the finish. We have a solution to tie down your E30, E36, or E46.

These rear shock tie down adapters make it a snap to locate and secure your vehicle when being transported. Sold in pairs (left and right). Come in bare steel. Please ask if you are intrested in plating No need for install and removal, stays on the car. Does not alter performance. Great as a supplement tie down point as well.

Oh yeah, this is for once it's already on the truck. I forgot about that part.

Good find! I need these for when I get my car dyno'd. There is no good attachment points on the back of the car for the straps and they usually end up around the lower control arms.
I'll have to see if they will work I the M2 too...
