Bought mine on amazon for relatively cheap, it’s easy enough to change that I rolled the dice. FCP is great but some prices just don’t make sense

Yea i saw that. I guess that’s the price i gotta pay for not having the skillset to diy and that damn light kept randomly coming on.
Do shops generally not use non-oem parts? I know the bmw indy i used in the past had said they only use bmw parts but this shop is not one of those.

Most of the time, I buy my own parts and just pay for labor. The invoice will say "customer provided parts, no warranty." I'm ok with that.

and don't forget that your Indy puts a mark up on the parts he sells to you, so they lose some profit on the job if they don't supply the parts. You're lucky you have an Indy that lets you bring the parts, they seem few and far between
