It's surprising because the entire cooling system, and much more, was replaced 33k miles ago.
Dang that sucks man... sorry to hear. If you haven't already done so, you should reprogram the coolant temp gauge to be more linear

Honestly wasn’t all that bad. I’m lucky I have a garage to do projects in now though. And that my Z is a florida car and I’m located in Texas now, so minimal rust to deal with. It was at most a 6/10 on the difficulty scale.

The worst part was putting the pan back on even with zip ties holding the gasket. I also ran the Liqui moly flush before draining the oil. Left the oil pump alone since it was really tight on there

Decided to retrofitted the E90 hidden compass + auto-dimming mirror into the E46. It's a mod I've always wanted to do, but just kept putting off.

Did you have to change any of the electrical pins on the mirror or plug? I tried a similar mirror in the 2002 325xi & it worked great. When I tried it in the 2006 ZHP coupe (came with manual dimming mirror) it doesn't work.

Hm, it should work if you already have an auto-dimming mirror. All EXX series BMW's use the same mirror connections I think. I didn't have an auto-dimming mirror so I had to wire in pins 3 (12V) and 10 (Ground) to get the auto-dimming and compass functions to work. If you have a voltmeter I'd check out those pins on your connector.

Did the mirror's security light blink at least? If you fail to re-wire and need it, the clown nose should still blink (pins 8 and 9 are on all mirrors and BMWs) but the compass and auto-dimming won't work.

If you have an SOS equipped car and don't do the re-wiring, it will brick the mirror - so if you had that feature on your old mirror, that could well have been the cause.
