Not sure if the whine is that audible. It was one of the installers/sales guy that sent me that video, so i have yet to hear it in person, both inside and outside of the car.
The puff of smoke was from a little oil that was on the exhaust manifold. Evidently, when I did my valve cover gasket after my vanos repair, one of the valve cover bolts broke and I didn't realize it, so a small amount of oil had seeped through. They found it and replaced the bolt but a little bit of oil had gotten on the exhaust, so it was from that.
I am still waiting for the dyno sheets to show up but i'll post those up as soon as I get them. But for the time being, i started at 192 at the wheels and the supercharger added 100HP to the wheels, so 292hp at the wheels. Although they are also going to do drop in some 93 octane fuel (for those outside of AZ that can get higher octane gas) to get the tuning done on that as well, so the HP numbers should go up just a little bit.
I should know pricing here shortly but I think they are waiting to see what the numbers are and the final tweaking on the software side. But as soon as I hear something, i'll update the main posts as well.
They have been doing some drivability tests on it and say that it is very subtle when not on the gas/non-aggressive driving, but opens up very quick when you want the power. I think this is mainly due to the additional lower end torque that this provides more than anything else. I guess there was a semi-annual AZ BMW meet on thursday (I couldn't make it since i was flying back from work at the time) but I guess they brought it to the meet and everyone was pretty impressed with it so far.
