Nivo did and it looks pretty good. I went to the local Jo-Ann's fabric store the other day to look at some options. I'm thinking of doing this soon.

That actually looks better to me, with that fabric. I'd just get really pissed if I screwed up while doing something like that.

Yes I did. Make sure to buy a thin cloth (I chose black). The last thing you want to do is buy actual headliner material, that stuff is way too thick. What I bought had the thickness and feeling of a T-shirt. I used 3M 77 spray. It worked really well and 2 years later they have not moved.

So any cloth will do? You just recommend thinner material?

Make sure the fabric will not turn color or fade on you. I would buy a piece of the fabric you like. just a small piece and leave it on the sun for a few days. see how it reacts.

I have had the mellotone in the sun for weeks now since I bought it and yet has not turned purple.

The thinner the material the more dry time you need before placing the fabric on the pillar cover with glue.

    Update

Update, it has been well over 1 year with the Mellotone fabric and it has never shifted color from black.

So I would give this Fabric two thumbs up.

Also the spray adhesive has yet to give out.
