I think dampers is referring to shocks, now termed struts.

Shocks and Struts are both used to identify front vs back. Struts are upfront (inside a strut housing), shocks are in the back. Dampers are, as far as I know, referred to either of them.I think dampers is referring to shocks, now termed struts.
