Drove my son's MT car today on the commute to Arlington (snow both ways :-( ). I really like it. I doubt he'd swap with me though.

For all Steptronic owners, this is a necessary maintenance item.

Thank you for this info. I stumbled across this fluid by Febi. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...id-83222163514. It appears to be similar to the OEM fluid used in the GM transmissions and thus should be much longer lasting than the valvoline fluids. What are your thoughts?

Has anyone tried Liquimoly 1800 ATF on a GM trans? Looks like it is Dexron VI rated?

This is my favorite ATF that I have tried in the ZHP (and I've tried many). And it's not expensive.
Very good information. I’ll also add that Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic ATF works very well in ZF and GM transmissions, and is readily available as well as very inexpensive. I’ve been using it for a few years in various BMW transmissions with no issues.

There are few things more expensive than a cheap BMW...
The link is dead, but I'll take a stab at this. It doesn't look like Febi-Bilstein group has any lubricant manufacturers so I'd guess they contract out to a large manufacture for their own branded lubricant (like BMW does with Castrol and now Shell, or Costco's Kirkland does).
The Valvoline MaxLife seems to have a very good reputation amongst the DIYers I've come across on the Toyota forums as well as BMW forums. MaxLife is also inexpensive and available at any Walmart. As far as durability, just don't overheat your trans fluid, that's what kills its service life.
I'm partial to Redline fluids, but they're expensive and not widely available.
I figure the auto trans fluid only gets changed out once in a blue moon (maybe 30k, but more like 60k miles), so why not. But I wouldn't hesitate to use Valvoline MaxLife for any appropriate application.
