Magnaflow Headers

Apparently Magnaflow makes catted "headers" for our cars.

I found these pictures on bimmerforums. They aren't the prettiest but they look a hell of a lot nicer than the stock pieces, surprisingly. They're pricy, too, at around $500/ea ($1000 for both fore and aft sections; $830/$1660 for CARB/NY versions) but they look like they would flow much better than stock while also retaining the catalytic converters. Less headache dealing with rasp and coding necessities with catless headers too.

I might go this route and get them ceramic coated instead of getting the bimmerbrakes headers.

What are your thoughts?

I came across those prior to starting my OEM M3 header conversion project... I could never find them for sale or any indication that they are still in production.. when you go to magnaflow's website, the product depicted is another cast manifold, very similar to stock.

Based on my recent experience with the M3 conversion, if they did make them tubular, like the pic on the link, then ~$1000 isn't a bad deal.

they've got two versions, the california version and the non-california version. these look like the non-cali ones... exactly what i would get.

The independent seller has them listed for cheaper than Amazon proper:



$682 seems to be the going "retailer" price. They're on Summit as well:

50287/50288 are indeed the "Federal" versions. The 4xxxx part numbers are the CARB ones.

Those are no longer made like that. Magnaflow changed back to the stock saucer design with these, so everyone regards them as simply OEM replacements now. And, those who had supercharged cars reported burning out the cats in these.
