    Starting the year off with 221,890 miles.

    I also bought a new key from the dealer. I predict the battery in the original key finally decided it had enough since it would not lock or unlock the car.

    The new key arrived already cut and programmed so all that had to be done was sync it to the vehicle. The dealer included the instructions as well so it was an easy process. $170 shipped out the door.

    You know you can replace the rechargeable battery in your key with a new one then you can save and use your key again. I did this with my M3's key.

    I am aware of this diy option and might try it out on the old key. However the original key was just worn down and some of the buttons didn't click the same way as a new key. I will keep it as a spare since it still works in the ignition.
