not sure where else to put this, but i had saved this video a while ago. it is very much my son and i. i think it's hilarious. and sad. and thus... very, very true.

the son's eyebrow-raised look at the end is priceless.

and frig, that F80 M3 sounds killer.

I was greeted to a surprise Friday morning, taking my daughter to her bus stop for school at 6:45... it was apparently -40C. My, that is a lot colder than I thought it was. Then about a kilometer down the road, it was +50C. What the heck is going on? Then, -40C after the next bend. It was like I was in the twilight zone.

I knew our winter has been weird, but this is just TOO weird. Then these rapid temperature changes were accompanied by beeping.... At this point, I realized my car was the problem, and not the weather. And I knew it was bad.

I pulled over and popped the hood, and found - you guessed it - the engine was missing. Frig. Just my luck.

After I pushed the car home - I found this - all that was left of the engine: an outside temperature sensor probe, with the wires sheared off. Huh.

Wrapped it up with duct tape and JB welded it to the roof and we’re back in business!

That's only a stop gap fix. Be sure to coat it with some WD-40 for longevity.

JB weld is the answer. Glad to hear that it worked out well.

I always knew that you would come up with a brilliant excuse for that S54 swap!

    red is weird.

but i like the amber... i'd run ambers on any shade of silver/gray/black too, and estoril!
    Chrome grille is underrated.

bro, i spray my windows down with the ol' WD. keeps the rain off. rain-x is like half the effectiveness of the ol' WD.

plus, then my windows smell good.

i think so too. which feels weird to say, as i'm not a chrome fan. but it's got something to do with balance on the front end of the car.

awesome, glad you liked it charlie!

just crested 233K KM last night, that's about 7K KMs since i did the swap. almost ready for the next oil change (i usually change around 8K KM - or 5K miles), this time with trevor's crazy lubrimoly ceramic unicorn tear potion - curious to see the oil consumption (which is about 1L/3500KM at the moment) results.

also, i ordered some 250lb/in 7" 2.5" ID hyperco springs for the front of my bilstein PSS (to go with my 500lb/in rears and rogue articulating perches)... thinking about ordering some ground control hybrid caster/camber plates so i can dial in more caster up front (i'm actually a little under factory spec now, which i don't like - assuming it's the poly FCABs - as stock bushings have a lot of flex and likely add positive caster... although Z4M FCABs would remedy this for a lot less $$$ - especially considering i have a set already... might try them out soon), and gain about 19mm more strut travel up front - that's huge!

also sold The Tank yesterday. just didn't have time to fix the fuel leak, so i listed it as-is, for a steal, and it was gone in a couple of days. i took a bath on it though. but that headache is off my plate, which at this point, is almost worth the loss.
