O absolutely not safe to drive on. I work as a environmental, health, and safety specialist/adviser so I am on board with that. What I did to get to work today was kind of funny. I did drive the car but only a mile an half down the road to the on ramp to the highway. Pulled over in a safe area, threw the flashers on, called roadside assistance, put my feet up and enjoyed my coffee and crossword while waiting for the tow truck. Half hour later I was being driven to work, car on a flat bed

But yes I plan on filing the complaint. My other rear tire is showing some signs of camber wear but it is not blown out. Also, by swapping the front end tires, my wobble / steering wheel shake was significantly decreased. The flat spot in the front tire either has more impact than I thought it would, or there is a corresponding flat spot in the wheel. Either way swapping it to the passenger side was noticeable in the almost 2 miles I drove the car this morning.

Can bent rims be unbent? I know I bent the rims on my 850R back in high school when I hit a curb, but can't recall if I had them repaired or just got two used ones.

Couldn't see the spot bc it was on the inside of the wheel.
Dude, that is one weird wear patch on a tire. Never seen something like that before.

    btw, what tires are those?

Only extended as far as you see. No idea how it happens. I think they were some variety of falcon tires. Original when I bout it. Run conti dws now. Much better tire

Well car is back to normal mostly.

Tires were so toast. I kept them and will get some photos up later. Bought some cheapos now to replace what was there. For cheap tires I am happy with them thus far. I bought some Barum Bravuris 3HMs. They are an ultra high performance summer tire, but on the cheaper end. I am impressed with the initial testing. Grip is great and there is hardly any road noise from them.

Once I square my car up, ill buy some nice tires, but in the meantime these will do. The guy I purchased the car from had put new tires on the front, and it now has new ones on the rear so I should be good for 30,000 more miles. I most likely wont make it to a track til next summer, and why waste money on good tires when I am just driving mostly freeways. The tires on the car are adequate for spirited canyon drives.

The suspension on the other hand, needs some new parts. I have a lot of play at the actual wheels, and I feel my inner tie rod bushings are part of the problem. I can literally grab a wheel( 3 and 9) and shake it back and forth a good 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. There is still a tiny wobble in steering feel but it is almost unnoticeable.

Happy I was able to get my car running smooth again for only $315 dollars. Two new tires mounted, and installed, all tires balanced. There is a bend in my rear rim however, so I will pursue a complaint against Cal-Trans. I work as a safety professional among other duties, and this is a pretty serious road hazard by design. I dont know if it I will get anywhere with it, but I am going to try and get the cost of the driver side tires and rim covered. How knows.

anyways, here is a link to the tire. Not really well know in the states, but there was decent reviews from England. Had to happen right before my vacation, so I really didn't want to spend a ton of $$$ that could be spent in France.

Tread design is similar to the PSS in a few ways. This site posted below has more reviews, but shows the wrong tread pattern. There are complaints of road noise, but compared to my Nankings, they whisper. I am wondering if the tread pattern was changed, and this site is outdated? Site above seems more reliable and accurate.

Ill keep everyone posted as they wear, but initial impression is they are a great tire for the price.

So it has been a long time since I've posted. Life has been too busy. Vacation in France was amazing and the best 10 days I've had in years. Time seemed to momentarily stand still. France is a beautiful country full of beautiful people who live amazing lives with great food. I can't wait to start planning the next vacation, but any plans have been put on hold.

this past Monday, driving to work as the sun was rising over the highway. I got into a car accident when the car in front of me slammed on their brakes due to surging traffic and someone cutting into the lane I was in a few cars up. I slammed on my brakes as well, but my front end completely locked up, and I skidded into the car in front of me. The impact was not that bad, but my heart dropped when steam started to rise out of my now bent hood. I pulled over to the side of the highway and shut the engine down within 20 seconds, and my temperature gauge did not rise. The car I hit just needs a new rear bumper and muffler. Unfortunately, the ZHP fared far worse.

My return to the forum is under grim circumstances

I took Monday off to initiate the insurance claim and figure out what the next steps were. I was pretty distraught and knew the whiplash would be settling in. I had my car towed off the freeway and to a salvage car lot were my insurance company operates out of. I returned to work and waited for the adjuster to call. Name: IMG_2061.JPG

+1. My nephew was in a car accident last month (the car was on my policy) and the insurance company took good care of the situation.

Glad you had a great trip and would love to hear more about it sometime. Really sorry for your accident. Push them hard to not total it. It seems to be the easier route for the adjuster in some cases. Colin's was a lot worse than yours and was totaled.
