Yes Stuart, noise is now gone but my Audi decided to give me a new problem..... a bad alternator. I now have a battery warning and my alternator is not charging my battery.
I got the Audi in my garage on ramps and will be taking the front end apart soon to swap out the bad alternator...

Ugh, that sounds painful
Did you see that there is/are Audi engines that have the timing chains etc in the rear of engine between engine and trans, etc.
That sounds like a horribly expensive, huge, and aggravating job to replace chains and guides

Rain is forecasted for the entire weekend so I will start working on my Audi and break everything down... I might as well take plenty of pictures and clean what can be cleaned while in there...
Got the front apart again so took out the faulty alternator
Was a real PITA to take out
So I will take a few days to really clean out this area before reinstalling the new part.
I did the cursory inspection of my radiator fan and noticed 4 fan blades with cracks at the base of each so will be ordering a new OEM fan blade assembly.
There is a cooling sensor on the passenger rear part of my engine that will also be replaced. I may end up replacing my windshield washer reservoir depending on what I find there...
So lots to do while the front is taken apart.

I cannot believe Audi is engineered some of the essential components like that. It's crazy to service them.
Good luck Charlie!
