Just finished the biggest Project on the ZHP thus far.
- OPG
- Engine/tranny mounts
- front end-links
- front tie-rods
- steering giubo
- A/T drain n' fill (drained about 3 quarts and put 4 quarts of new stuff back. I was missing a quart from my last DnF)
This was actually one of my less frustrating DIYs, albeit one of the biggest. No real complications with the OPG process, except putting the pan back on took some wrestling. Nothing crazy though. Really took my time cleaning the inside and outside of the pan. No real sludge buildup, but the little bit there was I wiped up. Pump nut is gucci.
I encountered only 2 real problems that I was able to get through with God's help and a little perseverance:
- Tie-rods were corroded to shit. Needed a torch and copious PB blaster to get the ends off. Then unscrewing them from the inner arm was a bitch and a half.
- I was ill prepared for the tranny mounts. There is really no room in there to get them off without lowering the exhaust. I was dead tired and really didn't want to deal with it, so I almost dropped it entirely, until some more experimenting got those suckers off.
Wish I took some pictures, but at the time, I thought "these guys have already seen this shit a million times, fuck it"
