Yeah...it's the new vertical section Charlie gave me. I won't be using the horizontal section he gave me as the one I have installed is nicer.

You're right it was the photo bucket. I've removed mine to do the lumbar DIY.

There is a torx screw in the back that you'll want to remove. Then you'll need to pull from the front near the pedals. There are 3 'clips' on the bottom that are the slide in and lock type. You can press then and pull a little to get them to unseat. After that pull from front to back. You will feel like it is going to break. Trick to bit breaking the front is not grabbing a handful. You really just want your finger tips pulling.

It's really hard to pull off! I had to replace mine once I was all set with everything.

If you use zip ties make sure not to make them too tight. If you do that you will see the pinch points of each zip tie. I used these:

Got it. Completely did not expect the "Heated Seat" portion (mat) to be sewn into the seat. I'm cutting that out now.

I was going to ask why you didn't just use the whole cushion assembly, as it only had 2 hog rings to remove, but then I remembered heated seats... Ugh, good luck brother, that is not a fun project.

Interesting. I didn't think we could buy the heating mat separate from the seat leather. So....theoretically we could order two of these, have a upholstery shop sew them in, then get the retrofit kit installed for the buttons. Right?

Did you plug in that number to see if in deed you can procure the mat? If it's available, I suppose sure. It feasible.

Yes. But remember, I had to cut the back rest out of my old seat, so I could transfer it into the cover Charlie gave me. I am not touching my horizontal portion.

Great work. For the heated seat switches I just parted out the wiring set up but it's pretty easy to make if you need to wire heated seats. DIY for that is on e46f.

I really would like to find out where that middle section could be purchase from. :)

I think recovering is something that will be left into the hands of professionals if I ever need to do this... Looks like a ton of work, props to you for pulling it off. But yeah, I will leave this to a pro. For sure...

Dane, now I know why you said this....I'm on the same mindset as well. It's a lot of work taking the seats apart just to have heated, lumbar, side bolster support....I also know why people use zip ties instead of those darn hog rings.....now I know...
