Is this a new clutch stop? If so, more info? A fellow ZHP owner/friend of mine made me a home made one about 5 years ago, sometime this past summer the adhesive for the "pad" gave up and the pad fell off (then the pedal actually stuck to the left over adhesive, lol!). I haven't messed with it since. If this is a clutch stop, it looks nice!

It's the same clutch stop Keith made in his thread, I just used a different pad.

So, now that I've sold my performance knob and handbrake, I need new boots. I'm gonna order through Coby, but I don't know if I should get cross stitching for my boots. It would be silver and would match my steering wheel, but it also costs $25 more. I'm just not sure which look I'd like better.

Any ideas?

Well, I already have a black Alcantara wheel from Coby, so OEM wouldn't match colors.

I'm wondering about the stitching. Cross stitching (like on the wheel) or just straight line stitching?

The boots are going to be black with silver stitching, no question. I'm asking about the stitching styles.

Had the socket for my seat tapped today. It was surprisingly easy, and I felt kinda stupid asking my dad to do it, but they are his tools so he did it for me. Never ceases to amaze me just how many tools he has, though.

While the seat was out, I addressed the issue with my driver seat: it had been dropped BAD. So bad, in fact, that one rail, and the half inch steel pipe that connects to the motor were both bent, along with a few other things. I swapped the parts that were easy to replace with some parts from my parts car, and used a rubber mallet to convince the rest of it all to fit together.

The fitment of the seat is still subpar, but it gets in there and it operates leaps and bounds smoother than it used to. Use my SRS tool to clear the seat code and called it a day.

ZHP officially back on duty (but I never stopped driving it, actually). :shifty

Here's a question. I currently have a typical cigarette lighter charger for my gs3. It works fine. However, when I have it on charge and also have music playing out of my phone into Aux-in, there's this nasty whining noise in between songs. As soon as I disconnect the charger, the noise goes away.

Have you experienced this symptom with this USB adapter, Dario?

Giya, you need a ground loop isolator. The power may be sharing a ground with the AUX causing some noise to the Audio Signal.

I have one of these. http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Ground-Isolator-3-5-Applications/dp/B001EAQTRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393664002&sr=8-1&keywords=ground+loop+isolator

Got my guage faces installed. Quality is pretty good, but the lettering lacks contrast. Also, a few spots on the face don't diffuse the light as well as the OEM face, making it possible to see the diodes individiaully. Not sure if I'll be keeping them on, but I love the style of the face.

Also broke one of the button tips on the cluster stalk. Pretty bummed about that, but oh well.

For me, under $1,000. Regularly, these coils are listed at $1,250.

Keep in mind, these are not similar to the BC/Megan/D2 coilovers. I'm not knocking those brands in any way at all, but this is not a simple rebrand/sell deal that you see all the time. They are hard to find, but I've seen them in the 600-900 range. I'd love to have them because they are similar to the 135's but different, and they are agressive, but, not as aggressive as the Mpars I was looking at.

Front is ET18, rear is ET25 I think. I don't know the bore size but if it fits E90, and E90 fits E46 ( I think ), they should be the same.

The offsets are pretty aggressive for a sedan. E90s basically have similar offsets to an E46 M3.

However, the difficulty in fitting M-Pars always had to do with the rears, not the fronts. I'm assuming I'd able to fit these fronts fairly easily with 235's, but fitting the rears is the hard part. Plus, they are 19's, but I like 18's. Probably not the best fit for me, but dayum I love these wheels.

It's been quite around here. Nothing new with the car, still DDing it. Coil delivery is delayed, so I haven't done that yet. Waiting eagerly. Also, I bought lower B pillars covers (finally), so I can put my interior together. Still taken apart in multiple places. I'll probably get to that tomorrow. I couldn't really avoid it without swerving hard because only at the last second did I realize that the pothole had opened up (it was usually just a cracked up portion of road that was fine to drive over). I'm not sure what to do at this point. I might go get my tires and wheels inspected for damage and file an insurance claim if the wheel is bent. Hopefully I can land new rubber and maybe even wheels if the payout is decent (Wawanesa is a very generous insurance company).

The irony being that the last two days of driving in horrible rain went by fine, and on a clear, sunny day, a pothole takes me out. :rofl

^ that is a good policy that I need to adopt as well.

That tire is done, it is unsafe, a blow out could cause a wreck, especially if it is on the front of the car (steering issues during blow out). I love my Angel Eyes, but to each their own, curious to see how the city lights turn out. The previous (original) owner of my car had the DRL's coded off either at purchase or at some point before I got the car. I painted my inner bowls are black at least a year ago.

cakM3
04-06-2014, 05:26 AM
Dario as you know... tires can make a big difference in ride quality. I have found the Falken FK453 tires on my BBS wheels to be much louder than either the Hankook Ventus V12's or my Michelin PSS's...I also feel much more secure riding on my Hankooks or Michelins...

Imola.ZHP
04-06-2014, 09:33 AM
Just switched to Michelin's on my better half's CR-V, louder, yes, slightly rougher ride, yes, but the stopping and handling have improved dramatically from the previous crappy tires. In the past friends have called me a "tire snob" because I only like Michelins. If not for my Pilot Sports on my M135's back in the day and my Pilot Super Sports on my VMR V710's now, my car probably wouldn't be here. Good tires have saved me so many times.

I used to buy my pilot sports for my M135's used from eBay back in the day, only got screwed once when I found a deal on a pair, bought them and waited 3 months to put them on. There was a gash in the sidewall of one of them and it was too late to do anything about it. Might take a look on there if you can't find any locally.

Avetiso

always make sure you have at least the same tire type per axle. Mismatch tires scares me and makes me cringe. :)
It's horrible. Much worse than the bubble.

Bubbling is very dangerous... If that blows up you could lose control of the car. I recommend replacing ASAP.

Trying to find a tire like mine is hard, and having a summer on there is worse. Trying to stay safe on it.

When you planning on doing the new suspension? I'm stoked to see them and see how they compare to stock.
Shipment was delayed. I'm waiting on them.

Not so bad, it was just that one pothole.

So the guy is offering me 700 for the wheels, with continental sport contacts with 50% tread left. I'm thinking I will take it. You guys think the pricing is decent?

I believe $700 is a very good price.

04-08-2014, 11:42 AM
How will the fitment be when you lower the car?

Honestly I am not feeling them all that much either. And 50% is one thing but what is the actual tread on the tires? Are they choppy or have any weird wear? If the tires are not in great condition then you spent $700 on a set of used wheels and for a little bit more you can purchase a new set of wheels without tires.

IMO seems like you are jumping the gun.

I am trying to get the guy to go lower, but he won't budge. Looking at other OEM options. New wheels are out of my budget, so I most certainly won't be buying ARC-8 or VMRs new.

Anyone have any OEM favorites that aren't overkilled? Looking for something different, which is why the 131's appealed to me.

Why not save up money for a new set of wheels? Are you in that big of a rush ? Imo replace the tire with a bubble, lower it and go from there.

What would I gain by going with new wheels? That's $1,000 right there, and the only wheel I'd buy are ARC-8s, which I'd probably never use to their full potential either way because I DD 99% of my driving. I just don't see a reason to spend that much on new wheels, given my circumstances. If I had more money to play with, sure.

The reason I want to replace the wheels is because my 135's are slightly bent either way. I want to unload them, and since I also need tires, I figured I do it all at once. Also, spring break is coming up, so I'll have time to take care of all of this. Plus, if I'm getting new wheels, I'd want my tires to match them. If I buy tires in the sizes I need right now, that could potentially be a limiting factor in my choice of wheels.

I'm gonna transfer over and start driving the SUV tomorrow to stop riding the bubbled tired until I can find out what I'm doing exactly.

Vas
04-08-2014, 06:58 PM
Iono but peace of mind knowing that a new set of wheels are not bent/rashes/etc. Used wheels are a hit or miss majority of the time.

Plus a lighter set of wheels does have a benefit for driving on the street. Leas rotational mass.

Just saying if you are spending that much on a used set to where cutting back on a couple of in and out meals will let you get something much nicer and fitting, I think it's worth it imo.

:rofl In-N-Out >> Wheels any day of the week. I'll walk if I have to!

I hear what you are saying. I'll probably stop by America's Tire and order 2 Potenza S04s tomorrow for my fronts. Gotta keep the car going. If anything, I'll transfer them over to my new wheels whenever I get them. I'm just not sure what sizes to get because I don't know what wheels they'll end up on in the long run. :dunno That's why I'm hesitant.

Shipping... Well that would depend entirely on whether I'd be able to ship via my company.

19s are rough on roads here in Chicago and I like to go square setup and have cheaper tire options so I like 18's better.

But if you dig um, go 19s they LOOK sweet!

19s on new suspension should be a bit rougher than what you're currently running but it depends on the suspension. You can check out my car if you want. Actually rides better than the zhp with 18s and eibach coilovers. Plus Sac has great roads. LA on the other hand is crummy.

19s on the 330 look a little different than the M. I've seen a few 330s with 19s and they look great but you'll have increased tire prices and less tire to save you from mistakes - curbage.

If I could do it over again I wouldn't have spent $2250 on new wheels and tires. Within a year they were no longer in "new" condition.

With that said, OMFG on those style 94's! Never seen those before that I am aware of.

I love the look of my 19's, but again, if I could do it all over again, I would have stuck with 18's. My better half doesn't like to ride in my car in part because of the harsh ride from the 19's. The lowered and stiffened suspension doesn't help either, but I bet it wouldn't be so bad on 18's.
