I've had two of my own cars shipped before and I've also sent car shipments a few hundred times before. It all depends on the driver and the company's policies for customer satisfaction in case something happens.

They guy that bought the car in AZ used Montway. Was wry satisfied. 4 day delivery. I think it would very base on the actual driver though.

When I bought my first ZHP from a guy in Dallas a few years ago, my Dad used one of those shipping bid websites. The car came on time (took like 2 or 3 days) and was in perfect shape. I think we paid $500 or so. Open trailer, Dallas to Knoxville.

Justin, one of the sites is http://www.uship.com. My E30 I purchased (non-running) in FL, and for the 1,000 mile move, it cost about $650 on an open car carrier. The $50 was the non-running aggravation fee. Pulled it off the trailer with my tractor and up my driveway.

I do believe our cars are twins.

Hornung418
08-09-2013, 02:51 PM
Its a twin of my current car too lol. That's really the main reason for me jumping on this car. All of my interior and exterior mods will transfer right over.

The damage on this car has me thinking about putting my fresh fenders on the car and making it a prefacelift...My newly resprayed hood and bumper would be a direct swap between both cars. This car has ZKWs...so I would swap my AL bi-xenons for the burned bowls. Thoughts??

I am debating about driving it back...only concern is the cooling system has the OG water pump...139k on that sucker. Don't want to put 2100 miles on it before getting a major inspection.

I wouldn't do a pre face lift. Weird IMO.

Congrats buddy! If you are looking at taking a road trip home, what about getting the water pump swapped by an Indy either in the area or on the way? I know you can change it yourself, but it may be worth the small amount of extra $$ to know you are safe for your trip home.

That said, I suppose you could just pack a spare into your luggage...in case you need to change it en route.

I'm with Avetiso. Stick with the post-facelift. Resale down the line would certainly be better in post-facelift format, should resale be in the future cards.

Hornung418
08-09-2013, 03:11 PM
Okey dokey. I just didn't want to give up my awesome ALs for the burned out ZKWs...I wonder if I could swap the internals easily.

And the fender needs replaced and painted...but I already have them so that's where it comes into play. We will see. I love the look of my current car...but the fitment is off due to idiot body shop employees.

If it's not too much of a hassle, do you think you can give it a test drive and an honest review?

Caleb's contact info is in the FS thread, he's in Riverton, UT.

Things I have that are going to go on the car immediately: OEM ZHP Control Arms - originally intended for the 328i, 68k mile ZHP shocks and struts with Hotchkis Lowering Springs, Stewart water pump, Under drive pulleys, fresh Mtech2 bumper (fogs and lower grill are fresh), newly resprayed hood and OEM performance Grilles :)

Nice! please post updates/pics of epic journey home. OB ZHP's are worth it. Granted you're going cross-country, but I flew up to DC and drove mine 6+ hours home. Stopped and in downtown DC and enjoyed the ride home. Just DO IT. Plenty of ZHPmafia members and e46fa******:ninja along your way home to help with any trouble you run into.

Still need to plan that. Looks like next Saturday evening would be ideal. Leave Sunday morning and take Monday and Tuesday off. Resume work on Wednesday.

Still need to get the paperwork at my bank filled out. But I am approved for the loan only bad thing is that my interest rate is like 15.9%. No Auto loans for any vehicle over 7 years old.

The overall plan goes something like this: Buy ZHP > Transfer aftermarket parts from 328i to ZHP > Get 328i running in stock format > Sell 328i for whatever someone wants to pay for it > Pay off loan by years end.

Dude, go to a credit union. That interest rate is killer.

08-09-2013, 05:40 PM
They won't finance anything over 7 years or under $10k. I'm fine with this option. I can pay off the loan in no time. Plus now that I'm back in school my payments to the Dept. of Ed. get differed til I graduate. So I'm pretty much free and clear of debt at this point. Payments for the two or three months I would owe on this car are going to be around $270 a month. Happy with that.

Hornung418
08-09-2013, 06:03 PM
Yeah almost 4k posts into my membership here and finally getting a ZHP. Super pumped.

I'm going to apply at the Credit Union and see what we can do as far as financing. I do agree that 15% for a personal loan is way to high, but considering my exclusive use of BB&T I figured it would be the logical thing to do. Because I definitely don't want an e9X...

Awesome purchase. With the price you paid you have a lot of leeway for preventative maintenance.

I drove 18h to bring back mine home - it was a blast.

Good luck!

The credit union should be more lenient and allow an auto loan on 10+ years. I financed my 03 for credit purposes, 5%.

Ref: the financing, I'd imagine that most lenders will not finance a car with that mileage. Sorry to say. GL

Hornung418

Yeah hope they go through with it. The car is priced to sell...doest really reflect the correct value of the car. Mileage is just a number ;)

Holy crap Justin, looks great, congrats to you! Very excited and good luck for a safe trip home with her! I would honestly skip the big beer tasting on your way home... Being hungover/feeling crappy is NO way to drive long distances, especially by yourself... Ask me how I know...

And that being said, don't swing down and spend a night with David (Mtnman) and his girlfriend, you will for sure finish your drive with a massive headache... :shifty
