This weekend I will be replacing the power steering pump on my ZHP and will put together a DIY for anyone that may need it in the future. The last time I dove my ZHP as my daily driver, I started getting this horrible noise. It was so bad I had to stop the car and see if I hit something, or picked up a branch. Nope, nothing noda, cant find a thing wrong with it. Turns out to be the power steering pump.

Check out the horrible noise in the video I found with the same condition.

you will find that 90% of the access to bolts, etc is from the bottom...so jack her up, place the safety equip and remove the plastic undertray.

If I recall correctly - it is 3 bolts all 13mm for the pump and 3 bolts 10mm for the pulley. LOOSEN the 3 10mm bolts on the pulley BEFORE removing the belt...that way the belt helps hold the pulley still

It is a very straightforward and relatively quick/easy job...you should be able to lift/fix and drop the car on the ground in less than an hour (unless you are taking pics for a DIY)

Feel free to hit me up with any questions

No pump replacement today; the problem went away before I started.

Pulled the ZHP out of the garage to clean things up before I started and the noise started fading away. Finished up and took it for a short test drive and didn't get any significant noise. So, before I started to Chang out the $400.00+ pump I took it in to town foe some V Power. 30 + miles later still functioning normal.

Looks like I'm putting the pump replacement on hold and possibly returning the OEM.

Weird! Perhaps it's low on fluid, and there was some air in the pump ?

Added fluid when the problem started but, I didn't need very much. I landed up buying the new truck that weekend so, I didn't need it for a daily driver and it didn't be driven much. That being said, I will be putting some miles on it in the coming days and weeks to see if the time bomb returns. I will also be changing out the belts next week and will be removing the fluid if can with a turkey baster and replacing it
With new.
