How do I remove the breather hose on the valve cover? Trying to finish up a VCG!

I think you are talking about the one closest to the bumper?

It has a rounded pinch clip thing. Find the sides of the clips that are grooved and pinch it, gently wiggle it until it comes off.

Be careful. I broke mine while doing VANOS it was very brittle after 7 years and Florida heat.

I got it. You gotta squeeze the top and bottom. I'm still at this. I'm trying to get all the crap off the inside of the VC right now. Looks like I'm going to ruin my perfect attendance in my English class tomorrow lol.

It's a simple straightforward job, don't sweat it! Remember this:

Good luck to ya, buddy!

We'll I finally finished and took it for a little drive with the new plugs and gasket in. She feels much peppier but I am getting quite a bit of smell when at a stop in the cabin. Much more than before. Could this just be some oil that may have leaked out burning off? There was quite a bit of oil that made its way out over time from that old gasket. I hope I'm not leaking. I was very careful to do this the right way. I spent like 5 hours in all on this! RTV at corners and all but what is iffy to me is that after looking at a few pics of RTV application, I am worried I may not have applied enough. I applied just a tad right on the corners and at the VANOS seam, let it sit for 5 or so min, then put the VC back on. I seem to be smelling the burning from the rear area as before.

You only need a very small amount of the RTV sealant. No worries. Most people use WAY too much.

If you're concerned, run a shop cloth around the valve cover at the gasket and look for any signs of fresh oil. If you're leaking from somewhere you'll narrow it down in a hurry. A mirror is a good way to see those half-moon seals at the back of the cover.

And look down at the cats from above. Oil from the vcg often drips on to them, and will give a burnt oil smell. Spray them down really well with brake clean.

I'm hoping it's just some runoff. There is quite a bit down below the engine. Some under the compressor, heat shield, and the metal tray underneath everything. I'm gonna go get a bottle of brake clean and murder everything under there with it.

Good idea. Brake clean is great stuff.
