You need to be more specific. Please include the color and stripe along with their pin locations.

Is this for an e36?

Taking a guess that wire 6 is not installed??? VI isn't one of your colors either, so I don't know. Maybe you can find the particular power shade drawing.

i really got 2 switches with the shade one is from a 5 series and is a switch like shown(but larger with thick wires) but wires are different colors and pin locations are different i can work the shade with it but the shop cut the wires short and is going to be a mess to splice into(as well as will not fit where i want to put it) the other is the shade button (the real one) but no wire harness for it

IMO, you don't want to use that switch as it has comfort features.

After looking at different power shade drawings and not finding the right colored wires, I searched the part # on that switch. That is a rear window switch for an early E39. Terminal 5 (Brown) is Ground, Terminal 6(Gray/Black) is for the light, 3 (Gray/Brown) is Close/Up and 4 (Gray/Red) is Open/Down.

Thanks for going the extra mile on this for me i will have time to try this out tomorrow and report back
as far as the switch i purchased the shade & switch(switch i am not using -larger -wires thick/cut too short) from a Canadian breaker yard (i buy a lot of wheels from them) and they said they retrofit these things from time to time and gave me the correct wire/color combo for switch sent but it was bulky and wires too short etc.so i basically got the same switch (smaller and wires not crazy thick) from a local yard and will be putting it into my ashtray (what could go wrong ;)

instead of rigging the up/down switch i rigged the real switch i had gotten it the same time as shade (so total cost into this project is 250) the problem i had with the real switch was no wire harness but after messing around for 2 days on this project i took the switch i was trying to use and pulled the wires out of it reason being i had found were someone had posted the correct pin/wire connections for the real switch then i just put wires on one by one and slid some rubber tubing around the individual wires/pins so they would not short out (so made a good enough harness) i taped all the wires onto themselves with electrical tape so it is a clean finish on the backside then i tapped into the cig. lighter wires (and at the same time i had the individual button console) so really just by luck i could just snap the button into the console for a clean look (i just nipped off part of the blank covering that was over the holes)
this really was just a "wild hair" type project the screen is really for a coupe so it is roughly 1 1/2" shorter and 2'' less in width than a real sedan shade but mounting holes and everything else lined up etc.

Looks good Mike! I wouldn't mind having one of those myself. The 35% tint I have now makes it a pain to back up sometimes.

Thanks, i have 50% Huper tint (not a big fan of tint) mainly got it for the heat rejection but the rear shade is good because i can back up with it down, and at night even with a self dimming rear view mirror headlights hitting the mirror still bothers my eyes and hopefully it will keep my rear deck from bleaching out every 2 years (i replaced the c pillars and re-covered the rear deck with black Alcantara during this process)

Wish they made an auto version for the sedan. I like those!

Does that piece mount where the slatted portion of the rear deck would be?

Glad you got it figured out. I kinda want to do this :)

^ you have to cut out the groove in the rear deck and kind of snap it in then it has 3 screws that go thru the trunk the real thing is finding the unit for sale or in a breaker yard but for sure if you have a sedan and dont mind the fit of the coupe one that i used (came off of a 05 M3) you can find them a lot easier but if looking for the sedan version you might as well check into buying a new one ( harder to find used)

They actually do, just very hard to find. Delmarco from E46 fanatics got one from eBay portugal IIRC, he has a full write-up too
