After owning a e90 convertible and not really caring for it, I decided to get something a little more fun on the next go-round....so after researching both here on this forum and on e46fanatics (plus a little on bimmerforums) I decided that a ZHP with a 6mt was the ticket without going full on into an M3. I spent quite a few months trolling both this and the e46 forum classifieds as well as regular Autotrader, Craigslist, and Cars.com searches. Out of pure luck, I searched on eBay and found this convertible. Normally I would stay far away from buying a car on eBay, but, I planned to look at the car in person and work out the purchase in person. I convinced a buddy of mine that runs a really successful BMW/Mini independent shop to ride down to Florida with me and check the car out. In the end, except for some really minor issues (blown front control arm bushings and some wear on the driver's seat bolster) I got the seller to agree to a pretty good deal for both of us and I drove it home.

I had my buddy's shop go over the car from head to toe and service all the major fluids in it (which lead to a new water pump, vent valve, accessory belt, tension and idler pulleys, plus the worn control arm bushings)....plus I had the shop that buffs out trade-ins and resales for the dealership I normally deal with buff the paint out and now it's like a brand new 9 year old car with only 49K mi on it!

Here are some photos I have already posted elsewhere on this forum....

I also swapped out the factory shift knob and boot for that of a F10 M5 knob/boot.....plus just yesterday, I washed it, waxed it, and, put in new factory floor mats (the old ones were nasty).

One cool detail on this car is that the PO had bought it from an Air Force airman....well, the carfax/autocheck info indicates that the vehicle didn't go through customs until 2008...so this vert actually got driven around where it was built for a few years!

Oh, and it had an M badge on the trunk lid when I bought it.....that came off and was replaced by the proper 330ci badging last week as well.

Welcome and Congrats on the low mile ZHP! My ZHP had a ///M Badge on it also when I bought it.

Yeah, the ///M badge.....I almost wonder if that was how that vehicle came badged in Germany since that's where it was purchase/picked up.....otherwise it was a total ricer move on one of the two PO's behalf....

Welcome to the forum. I'm new as well from GA. Your tag wouldn't happen to have "FUN" in it, would it? I saw one exactly like this on 400 during rush hour. Noticed the Sand Montana leather.

Yup...that'd be me....had to wait on the tag to get made. It's funny...we drove it tagless for a 3-4 days and never had issues...I kinda liked that! Then we had a temp tag that the tag office gave me that doesn't expire till Feb 2014....weird. But now, I have the new tag with a pewter GT tag surround....and a bonus Buzz magnet next to it. What were you in?

I was in my company truck hanging out in the right lane north of the toll plaza. Yeah, I was surprised by the almost 3 month temp tag. We had one when we were getting the 2nd ZHP (2005) tagged. How'd you like shelling out the tax on it? I appealed since they said it was valued at over $12k. Would be ok, but salvaged title and I paid $3300 for it. Think I almost prefer the Ad Valorem. If you see JAKKS on a tag then it would be one of our 2 ZHP's. Undecided on whether I want to tag the slow 323 with a specialized one.
