OMG yes. This is exactly what I thought the headers with the Perf Exhaust would sound like. :drool

Ok so my big question that has kept me from buying headers is.......in light load / normal around town driving how loud is it.? And is there highway drone?

Other than that sounds amazing.

Love the sound. But yes, does it have highway drone?

Curious to these questions as well. Sounds fantastic. How much of a difference is there between the ZHP muffler and BMW Perf. muffler? Or are they the same?

They are different, but really not much difference to buy one. I've seen and heard 'em side by side. It doesn't hurt of course, and the sound changes some, but not much really. I know some people got them at good prices when they near the bottom of inventory… so if you didn't have an aftermarket exhaust and got one cheap, I'd say that's not bad.

This current setup drones but because of the magnaflow mid section. The magnaflow makes it louder than most people would consider "comfortable", and even so with the stock manifolds. At WOT it sounds terrific, and it's very quiet at low RPM. however, on the highway it drones... A lot.

That's why I'm swapping my stock ZHP mid section on after I modify it a bit.

Headers are a great mod. If you pair them with a stock exhaust system you will notice a drastic change in sound, but the level of sound pretty much stays within the comfort zone you are used to with stock manifolds. Though headers + mid-section may alter that. Like in my scenario.

So if you're worried about headers being to loud or droning, don't worry. They won't! I have plenty of friends around here with e46 non-ms + m's with headers.

I love the BMW performance muffler. It sounds like a stock ZHP muffler but is slightly louder at high revs and IMHO I think it looks much better.

Lol. I've watched it multiple times. I've been so content with my exhaust up until recently when all these header videos popped up

Much appreciated! More videos to come... Trust me, I've got a treat for the family.

Thanks for the update. My worry about it being too loud is that I already have the magnaflow catback and I love the tone but would like some extra volume.

Maybe I will just remove the section 1 muffler/resonators.

God damn that thing sounds amazing! Wishing I had done headers on my old ZHP when I had the magnaflow on it

Niiiiiice. Seriously reconsidering keeping the headers now after hearing that.
Did the butt dyno have any results when you swapped to the BMW Performance exhaust?

Headers are likely the best mod I've done to the car. I won't ever got back with stock manifolds. It really makes the car open up and drive how it's meant to be.

I've been running the stock midsection for a few weeks now and I must admit it's not exactly what I like. Much quieter.....

Ordering some resonators and other bits and reworking the magnaflow midsection so it won't drone. I miss it

How are you going to rework the midsection?

I be got the magmaflow cat back and plan on getting headers once my car is home from the shop.

Was there supposed to be a video or link attached to this first post? New user here so maybe I can't see it yet but I'm interested in hearing this setup.

Oops, just wasn't displaying on iPad. All good now.

And now for a more meaningful question, when the OP says Magnaflow mid section, what area is that? Is it just Magnaflow resonators or is it a Magnaflow cat-back system from the headers, all piping in between to the muffler?

I have all stock exhaust back to a Remus muffler. I'm thinking its time to find some headers to wake the car up and I'm wondering if I'll get that nice raspy sound by just installing headers with stock piping and the Remus muffler. Maybe I need to remove the resonators at minimum? Any suggestions? The sound the OP achieved with headers and just Magnaflow is amazing and that's what I'm after.

Thanks for any info/suggestions.

He's referring to a Magnaflow X-pipe I think.

Sounds frickin' awesome! One of my few complaints with the ZHP is that with the stock exhaust, you don't know you're driving a sports car.

I went with the V1, multiple others on here did as well. The fitment is good, and the power gains are awesome!
