Previous owner had this cheesy rear fin with LED light, said it broke off in a car wash.

Anyways, I am open to suggestions... replace with another fin (thinking its actually easiest solution)... take off totally and somehow to to buff and restore the surface, or another option? And I assume the fin is just aesthetic unless its to house an antenna I heard?

And I have no idea whats the best and safest way to take it off without peeling off all the paint etc....

it should just be stuck on with double sided tape. Look for someone parting out a car and buy a replacement or just remove and polish paint.

I would just remove it. Any pics of the surface?

Charlie, do you recall the size of the torx on the inside of the fin? I didn't have one small enough. (sorry for the hijack)

Pics of what surface?
So just peel it off gently or use a plastic chisel to help? Would it help if its warmer more humid weather to peel off more easily?

^ warm weather or a hair dryer might help. Dental floss?

Ah yes, if it is double-sided tape I guess floss would help, LMAO... too bad I dont floss (its not what u think!).
What about getting all that residue off... is there an off-shelf product that kinda melts it away or softens it up so I can scrape it off before putting another one on there?

PS Is there anything else functional or cool I can put there... another clean fin would be nice but that seems like a very small upgrade over the boring nothing.

Goof Off maybe? Need something safe on clear-coat. Grime Reaper might work too.

I couldnt laugh or sigh when the guy told me he put it in himself... he knew it had some sports package but he didnt even know the term ZHP, so that was my advantage. He sounded like he was proud of himself that he installed the fin and it lit up when he turned his headlights on. Then he seemed real sad when he said it broke off in the auto-car wash.... SMH. I think it was my duty to get the $#^% vehicle off of him.

Ok so Stoner Tarminator or Goof Off (the safe version)? They sell all these at like an AAP or Home Depot? Or just go to Amazon?

Ya I see in Amazon, Goof Off FG659 that claims its safe for "most automotive surfaces" which I guess includes painted body... wish they were more specific, there doesnt seem to be a version that is "safe."

Will Greased Lightning or Krud Kutter not work?

Funny, I've used goo gone and never had an issue. Wiped on, let sit for a few seconds than flood with clean water. No damage to the clear, just nice orange smell mmm.
