I have started a my search for a ZHP sedan. I live in Atlanta, but willing to travel as long as a PPI can be performed beforehand. Either by a friend in the area or owner.

I am looking for the following:

Sedan
6spd, no DSG
No performance mods, things like upgraded headlights, etc will be considered
Preferred colors are Red, Silver, White
Black interior - Alcantara or leather
Under 100k miles if possible, depends on age of car
Budget - $10-11k cash

http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4468363095.html

Offered this guy $11k, it has no major service (cooling, vanos, disa, VCG, OFHG) completed, but he really wants $12k.

Told him that since the cooling system hasnt been touched, I would have to do that immediately, hence my offer. He seems pretty firm at $12k.

He works at a BMW dealer so I told him if he get the cooling system done at cost to him or something, I would consider $12k even.

Thoughts?

Looks like a good car.

12k is a good price.

11k is a bit low, and he is right for not selling.

You are asking him to come down $2,000 from an already decent price on $500-$600 worth of DIY maintenance.

I'd buy it for 12k.

Thoughts on this one? Worth the advertised price?

Might have lost out on the Kansas car. Has a local offer for 11k, Im willing to go to 12, but out of state, so he might now want to deal with that. Still in talks with the Nashville guy...

Talk to the owners (on the phone). See who/and what car you feel more comfortable with. I'd get a deposit on one of them soon to hold it.

So I really cant go wrong?

Both cars have passed PPIs performed at BMW dealers. The Kansas car was performed back in Feb when at the last moment the buyer backed out.

I think the nashville car is nicer, probably driven easier as well, plus fewer miles by 40k..think of it as a blank canvas.

Ugh, dont know which way to go.

Running out of time on the Kansas car.

I promise you the Kansas car was driven like a grandpa I'm 31 years old with a kid it was only a daycare mobile. The maintenance history on the car makes the mileage a moot point

It is his car. Great looking car, tons of maintenance. But, I decided to grab the car in Nashville. The lower miles and newer car won me over.

05-14-2014, 02:58 PM
Welp, no fault to Scooby, but I have just lost out on both cars.

I decided to go with lower miles/newer car, and told Scooby I was going another route. Of course, 30 mins later, the guy in Nashville tries to back out. He was OK at $12k for the whole day, now at the last minute he's not sure.

So we'll see what happens.

Congrats mindspin! I saw scooby's for sale ad on here and really liked his car as well, and looked like a really good deal. I was even considering having it shipped. So I wanted to ask will you be shipping the car to ATL or will you go pick it up and drive it home? Thanks!

I was the potential local buyer for the KS car. I didn't have time to see the car until Sunday but was told you already put down a deposit that afternoon. :p

I bet that drive back is going to be great! Especially through the Tennessee.

Its funny how people may not necessarily know that a 330 they're looking at is a zhp, but once they find out it is by going online to do more research...it always leads them here. The Mothership of ZHP knowledge.

Ya that was me. Saw my ZHP on Craigslist down in Temecula Calif. My father in law who lives there went to look at it, took it to BMW for the inspection then drove it up to Las Vegas for me. Didn't even know I had bought a ZHP until I came across this website. The rest is history.

Very nice pickup. Driving back will be a lot of fun.

It seems like there are a number of good deals recently. Both cars in this thread at $12K are very good. Last October, I paid $13K for a 95K mile 04 sedan, with decent maintenance, but lack of a few major items (cooling, DISA, VANOS). Maybe because CA cars carry a premium, maybe because I wanted the Dove gray leather, which is not very popular, but on the other hand, also very rare in ZHP.

Congrats to all of you getting the awesome deals, and be assured that a ZHP worth every penny you spent on it.

Car did well during a PPI at an indy shop. Ever so slight leak at the oil filter housing and the front passenger side window regulator is making a noise and the shop predicts it will fail soon.

Sounded young, really indecisive. We initially agreed on $12k with him throwing in OEM water pump, tstat and expansion tank, parts only. Then I said if you keep the parts, can we go to $11,500, he countered at $11,650 and I told him he had a deal. Then he backed out. In the end, he told me he wanted $12.5k.

What a waffle-er. Perhaps now that some time has gone by and he has not sold, he will be more willing to negotiate (and decisive).
