Preferences, not requirements:

Convertible > Sedan > Coupe (I have an e30 vert I'll likely keep if I buy a sedan or coupe).
Manual > Auto
Leather > Alcantara (for a ZHP)
Generally dark exterior > light, though I'm a big fan of AW
Brown/Tan/Black interior > over Grey.
Stock > Mods
Condition/Maintenance History > mileage
Southern car > Northern

Bonus points if you have a hard top for your convertible

Xenons, post face-lift a must (for non ZHP)

I've been looking for some time now, and I'm familiar with the market. My budget would include all but the most pristine, low mileage ZHP available. However, I am a value buyer, meaning I'd rather get a good deal on less expensive car than pay a premium for a mint example. The car will be a daily driver for me, so I'm not necessarily interested in a garage queen. Cash in hand, ready to purchase.

I'm in Lexington Kentucky, and am willing to travel for the right vehicle (generally west to St. Louis, north to Detroit, east to DC and south to Atlanta, though farther if you have something I really like).

Email me at jwalther@wrgfirm.com if you have something you think I might be interested in, or a lead. Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've been thinking about buying a ZHP for years, and the timing is right now. Having owned e38 and e39 sport package vehicles, I think I need to complete the trifecta from the best generation of BMW vehicles.

@Oli77-Any other locals here?

Pretty sure BMW of Lexington is useless (they didn't help me at all when I was looking for an e46).
There is a large enthusiast store up north of Cincinnati.
Craigslist has been weak when it comes to e46s. mostly e90s coming out of leases.
This is a good forum to frequent as national searches land with the add here).
Hope you find it and we should meet.
Where do you work?

Welcome and as for your search, my wife has an 06 vert with sports package and 69,5K on it. Currently it needs a new starter that was quoted @ $950.00 to replace from the closest BMW dealership. There are a few other PM things that need to be done but not that big of a deal IMO. At this point in time she's still undecided on if she wants to fix it or move into a new 4 series coup and we have a trade offer from the dealer. Here's a few picks. Let me know if your interested.

I was pretty unimpressed with the whole setup. Not a very nice area, and 80% of their inventory is in a chain link fence caged area. I drove through there and snapped these the other day:

I have only driven by it. They don't have ZHPs too much, mostly Ms it seems from the inventory.

Thanks, but have decided on a convertible. I've struck a deal on one contingent on the PPI. Bone stock, 04 Black/Black, MT, silver cube, all options, 65k, good service history. $13.5k, which I think is a pretty good price?

Ok, I'm about ready to pull the trigger but would appreciate your thoughts on the deal. 04 Vert, Black/Black Leather, All Options, Silver Cube, MT, 65k miles, good service history, one owner since 07. Fender bender in the car's history, resulting in rear quarter panel, tail light, and bumper cover being replaced at the Dealership. Mint cosmetic condition. PPI disclosed about $2k worth of normal, age related work necessary (VCG, diff leak, front suspension a little loose, couple of bent rims). Negotiated purchase price of $12,750, so if I do all the work required I end up with a loaded, low mile, mint condition 04 Vert for $14,750. Any reason NOT to do the deal?

Sounds like a good buy to me, especially considering you would probably be able to get the recommended repairs and work done at an Indy shop for much less than the dealer estimates. Obviously if you're into turning your own wrench you could save even more. I would want to be absolutely certain the body work was done to a very high standard. Especially if they had to replace the entire quarter panel, that entails quite a bit of parts removal, cutting and welding. Not a huge deal if someone knows what they're doing, but certainly more involved than just bolting on a new fender or door.

I think the long ownership times bodes well also.

Do you have photos you can share? The eagle eyes on the forum might be able to spot something you don't even know you should be looking for.

Update?

I'm at the mercy of the Yankees' home schedule. . .I promised my son I'd take him with me so we could catch a game. He's a huge Jeter fan, and wants to see him play one last time. We're flying up Friday, getting the car, catching the game Friday night then driving home Saturday. The wait is killing me!
