I just replaced the coolant expansion tank and the return hose and the car is consistently overheating. I took a sensor from another car and that didn't solve it either. I've been running water through the car as coolant to search for more leaks. Quick help would be appreciated.

Also, it doesn't begin to overheat till I've come to a stop. So for example, the temp will be steady, but when I come to a stop, the temp will slowly rise whether I continue driving, or let the car idle.

Did you bleed the cooling system? Also did you plug your electric fan back in?

X2...
Turn the heater on to max temp setting, fan on low. Turn ignition ON but do not start the car. Ex tank cap off, air bleed screw off and add water. Bleed it, add water. Bleed it, add water. Bleed it, add water. Then once you think all the air is out drive it around a bit. Park and let it cool and do it all over again to make sure all the air is out of the system.

I drained all the water and re-bled it. Seems to be holding steady now, thanks. I'll be back if I'm still having issues.

Is it auto?
Is your aux fan not kicking on. If you turn on the a/c and it doesn't turn on. than the relay is bad and i believe you have to replace the whole unit.

If the problem continues even after proper bleeding, could be thermostat stuck closed, but that's not a common failure (usually sticks open). Running the heater on high might let you drive it for a while because the heater acts as a mini radiator.
